“To be surrounded by 28 peers who were amazing by default of a rigorous application was personally inspiring. Whether they wanted to pursue careers in education, had belonged to similar programs in the past and wanted to give back, or genuinely believed they could affect social change by way of education, these were 28 individuals who put my own career in perspective for me. I’d never thought about being a teacher before Summerbridge, but now I’m definitely keeping it on my radar. If nothing else, my respect and awe of good teachers, my belief in the importance of diversity, and my faith in the positivity of twenty-somethings has increased tenfold: to know that one program can have such an effect is hardly conceivable, but that is the power of Summerbridge.”
