Student Alumni

Did you attend Summerbridge Cambridge in middle school? We want to hear from you! We are building our alumni program -- watch this space as details unfold!

Summerbridge Cambridge's student alumni programming creates a path to college for our former students during their high school years. Since the majority of our alums attend Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS), we focus on that school context – but we encourage alums at any high school to keep in touch and take advantage of events and services.

As Summerbridge Cambridge's college access coordinator, Andre Gordenstein is in charge of all services for students in grades 8 and up. You can email or call Andre with questions anytime.

Summer before 8th grade

Come back to Summerbridge Cambridge (SBC) for a third summer! Make a difference in the community through our service-learning program. Grow as a leader and get ready for high school academics!

8th grade fall

With your family, decide what kind of high school you want to attend. Will you choose Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS) or investigate other options?

Attend SBC’s high school options events: one focusing on resources at CRLS, and one including representatives from local charter, private and parochial schools.

Continue community service learning.

8th grade spring

Walk in high school shoes for a day! SBC can connect you to an older alum so you can check out CRLS for yourself. CRLS also hosts several events for eighth graders and their families – attend as many as you can!

Create your four-year plan with SBC. We will help you figure out what courses you need to take to go to college.

What are you doing this summer? SBC can help you locate work, volunteer or program opportunities to keep you on the path to college.

9th grade fall

SBC’s alumni mentoring program can help you adjust to CRLS by matching you up with an older alum.

SBC will call or email you twice this semester to find out how things are going.

Stop by SBC lunches at CRLS…an easy way to keep in touch and tell us your updates!

SBC hosts several alumni events per semester – everything from scavenger hunts around downtown Boston to dance parties. Come reconnect with your old friends.

Having a hard time in one of your classes? SBC can connect you to extra help and tutoring at CRLS. Ask early!

9th grade spring

You are eligible to return to SBC as a junior teacher or an office intern. Apply to us and apply for the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program!

SBC can also help you find other summer programs, work or volunteer opportunities. (Examples for ninth graders: Experiment in International Living, Outward Bound, Crimson Summer Academy)

SBC will check in with you twice this semester too. A focus will be on figuring out your class plans for tenth grade.

And finally – more alumni events and lunches!

10th – 11th – 12th grade

From now on, you are eligible to apply to teach in SBC’s after-school or summer programs, or to be a one-on-one tutor.

SBC will continue to steer you towards other programs and resources, and will nominate qualified alumni for programs like Summer Search and Upward Bound.

You’re invited! Alumni events and SBC lunches happen at least twice per semester.

Continue checking in with SBC twice per semester.

SBC will continue to be a resource if you need help academically or personally.

SBC will help you prepare for college starting early – it’s never too soon! SBC can connect you to free test preparation classes and will give you access to GuidenceNet (add link eventually), test preparation, college and career planning software.

Moved? Got a new screen name, email address or cell phone number? TELL SBC! If we can’t find you, we can’t invite you to all these great events and share these resources. Please keep us updated.
